“The energy at Art-a-thon 2024 was amazing—I felt very proud to be a part of such an impactful event. It was incredibly rewarding to see all of our hard work pay off. One of my favorite moments from the Art-a-thon was helping out with the button-making machine. I loved seeing everyone’s unique designs, but more importantly, I appreciated how everyone was so patient and kind as we worked out the kinks of the machine. I am thankful for the art we made, the money we raised, and most importantly, the life-long memories we created!” – Priscilla

“It was really beautiful to see everyone bonding through art and getting into all the unique tables. It also meant so much for me to see my T-shirt design all around. It was the first time I have designed something like that where people actually buy and wear it!” – Anna

“For the Art-a-thon ’24, I demonstrated that my artwork, bloxBuild, a three dimensional object with images collaged onto its surface which is held together with colored hook and loop fabric (Velcro), is also a workshop. Through the bloxBuild demonstration, I excited and engaged the imagination of the Art-a-thon attendees. This in turn, puts them in touch with their own creativity.” – Tom

Shipyard Open Studios was another success!

Special thanks to Kay Weber for sharing his three decades of ARTmaking and teaching in San Francisco’s Tenderloin through the Boys and Girls Club. He also connected in magical ways to visitors as ArtSeed’s featured artist!

Reflections from Kay:
“I was invited by Josefa, from ArtSeed, to be a featured artist at the Hunter’s Point Shipyard Open Studios 2024. With the help of Josefa, Priscilla, and Tom we did get all my artwork up on the walls to show together with the kid’s artwork from Boys & Girls Club. The display looked wonderful. The event was full of joy and excitement. The constant flow of visitors kept us busy throughout. I enjoyed being part of the Shipyard’s vibrant artist community, reconnecting with old friends and making new ones. I was able to sell some artwork, especially from the kids. But the social interaction was the best part for me. Networking is always one of the most important and interesting parts of being an artist.”

Only a Couple Spots Left! Make art for exhibition at ArtSeed’s Fine Arts Summer Intensive from July 8th – 13th 2024! (For teaching artists, volunteers, and students ages 8-18)

This in-person fine arts summer camp is led by experienced teaching artists and distinguished guest presenters. It gives highly motivated children, and youth, opportunities to learn both experimental and traditional fine arts skills, showcased in a public exhibition. They will also be invited to ask questions, and express concerns over current events affecting their communities. We will explore artists who have made history or who have shed light on controversial topics that youngsters may also choose to explore through writing and visual arts media such as charcoal drawing, oil painting, collage, and photography.

When: Monday – Friday, July 8 – 12, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Fine Arts Camp

Saturday, July 13, 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. Presidio Exhibition Reception
