ArtSeed’s 17th Annual Earth Week Art-a-thon

This year’s Art-a-thon will be on Saturday, April 19, 2025 from 12 pm to 6 pm. PDF Flyer with full information.

Art-a-thon is a 6-hour art-making marathon. Participants are invited to try all sorts of artmaking, watch demonstrations, receive available artistic guidance, or simply enjoy live music, free food and beverages as they cheer on art-making attendees.

Everyone, of all ages and skill levels, can try their hand at new skills and submit the results for our Spring Open Studios and Presidio exhibition. Join us and help us raise money to benefit youngsters, veterans, and disabled adults who want fine arts mentoring but can’t afford to pay for private art instruction.

2024 Art-a-thon

Where: The Presidio of San Francisco, Tides Converge, 1016 Torney Ave. off Lincoln Blvd. Please use the entrance at the rear of the building. Easy parking in the lot off Edie Road. Or take the PresidioGo Shuttle (free) or Muni lines 28, 30, 43, and 45. Wheelchair accessible.

Why: The Art-a-thon kicks off ArtSeed’s 2025 programming season, tying together inspirations of all sorts with the annual theme, “About Face.” This explosion of creativity continues in-person and virtually in weekly sessions and culminates in a large ArtSeed exhibition at Tides Converge in the Presidio. The goal of the Art-a-thon is also to raise funds to keep Summer Intensives and art-making mentorships available to all regardless of ability to pay. With every hour spent making art, participants will raise funds to support ArtSeed’s education and exhibition programs. A suggested door donation of $20/Adults & $10/children and seniors helps defray costs of the event. Every $20 given, raised, or pledged by friends earns tickets to win various fabulous prizes. No one is ever turned away for lack of funds.

Art-a-thoners are welcome to come any time and stay for any duration during those hours. Participants may work on their own projects or take advantage of the expert guidance and supplies provided. Throughout the day there will be live music, refreshments, and guest artist appearances. The event culminates in a presentation of artwork made that day and a drawing of prizes consisting of gift certificates and other nifty items. Deepa, an attendee of previous Art-a-thons, explains: “The ArtSeed Art-a-thon was so much fun for my daughter and me. We thoroughly enjoyed all the stations, the live music, and the enthusiasm of the organizers. We also learnt a lot of techniques taught by very talented people. I recommend everyone to come in and experience this event for a true immersion of the arts.”

Participants are asked to register and collect pledges of any amount for each hour they create art. For further information, contact Josefa Vaughan, josefa@artseed.org, 415-656-9849.
