Celebrating Three Weeks of the Fine Arts Summer Intensive!
ArtSeed is proud to have completed our annual immersive artmaking Intensive with two in-person locations at opposite ends of the city: ArtSeed’s Presidio WorkSpaces at Tides Converge, and at ArtSeed’s Hunters Point Shipyard studio. All-day online connections between these two sites brought both camps together for structured presentations and Activities. Participants studied with eight in-person instructors who were also accessible via Google Meet. Additionally, four remote presenters hosted “Field Trips” to Seattle, Washington; Frisco, Texas; plus Petaluma and Emeryville, CA! All this happened during weekdays, July 12 – 30, 2021, 9 am – 5 pm. Participants ages 9 and older largely worked one-on-one with teaching artists and adult volunteers to develop pieces for their individual portfolios and for several collaborative projects. Opening Reception: 5-7 p.m., Thursday, November 4
Closing Reception: 3-5 p.m., Saturday, December 4
Let’s reveal the challenges and power of this moment. How can people of various political and cultural persuasions resolve conflict and grapple with environmental and political issues disproportionately affecting communities of color and the poor? Can art heal social and personal wounds? Are we not all creators? Explorations of flesh, flags, maps, and monologues awaken the need for all of us to change.

Enter the Presidio’s Café RX doors to find China Brotsky and Seed Galleries at Tides Converge or request an online event pass. The exhibition is open to the public for viewing 8 am – 2:30 pm through doors on General Kennedy Ave. nearest the intersection with 1012 Torney Ave (Tides front desk is an alternate entrance). Public receptions for the exhibition New Normal: Learning from the Past to Move Forward Together will be online and in-person following the San Francisco’s Health Order and Health Order Directive No. 2020-14. ArtSeed is in agreement with Tides in supporting those on the front lines doing the hard work and uplift our Black, Brown, Asian, and Indigenous communities who are disproportionately impacted by COVID-19 due to systemic racial inequality.
